Evan Maxwell Rock is a senior associate at The Law Offices of James Kousouros. He comes to the firm from The Legal Aid Society’s Criminal Defense Practice, where he handled misdemeanor and felony cases for over 13 years. During his years with Legal Aid, Evan successfully represented thousands of individuals who were charged with serious crimes, and he earned a distinguished reputation for both his legal acumen and his fierce and tireless advocacy. His exemplary legal representation and his demonstrated compassion for his clients’ unique needs align perfectly with our firm’s mission to provide each and every client with the best defense possible. During his tenure with Legal Aid, Evan took a year-long sabbatical to work in The Office of The National Public Defender in Tel-Aviv, Israel. During his tenure there, from 2013-2014, he was involved in a variety of projects, including research and writing on criminal justice legislation being considered in the Knesset (Parliament), leading the final stages of entry into the international Innocence Network, and supporting litigation in various appellate and post-conviction matters. He also completed the specialization necessary to join the Israel Bar Association. Evan received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with Honors, from Brown University in 2001, and his Juris Doctorate from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2005. He is admitted to the New York Bar and to the Bar of the State of Israel. Evan is currently the President of the Board of Directors of Extra Terrestrial Projects, an environmental non-profit organization that connects young people to environmental preservation issues through the use of art and design.
