Emma Jayne Cole earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors in both Economics and Social Studies from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She went on to graduate with distinction from the very demanding Graduate Diploma in Law Program of Birmingham City University, United Kingdom – a program which requires all courses usually taught in three years of law school to be completed in one. Immediately following her graduation, she secured an internship with James Kousouros. She completed that internship with such distinction that Mr. Kousouros invited her to join him in the practice. Since that time Emma Cole has demonstrated her extraordinary abilities in a myriad of ways: from her discovery review, trial preparation, and drafting of memorandums, motions and bail applications, to her office management and client relations. Emma works hand in hand with Mr. Kousouros from the inception to the completion of every case and is a key point of contact for all of our clients. During both state and federal trials her work is informed by the confidence that impeccable preparation and keen legal insight create. Her professionalism and dedication, as well as her always complete command of the legal file, are major assets to the firm. All of these traits and skills, together with her patient and compassionate demeanor, provide our clients with the counsel and support they need to fully grasp the evidence and posture of their case and to withstand the emotional rigors of a criminal prosecution. Emma is the recipient of many academic awards and she won First Place in Birmingham City University’s Moot Court Competition. She is a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York Criminal Bar Association, and the New York City Bar Association.
